I’m not sure if I can really call this recipe “tea” as there’s no bag involved, but I’ve sat here wracking my brain for a different title and am coming up short. So the best I can do for you all is quotation marks. I also can’t stand looking for a recipe online and skimming through the author’s entire life story just to get to the recipe, so let’s get right to it, shall we?
Warm Citrus “Tea”
2 Navel Oranges Sliced
2 Lemons Sliced
Honey (to taste)
Cinnamon (to taste)
Hot water
Preparation: Slice oranges and lemons and alternately layer them in a tupperware container. Drizzle pile of citrus with honey and cinnamon. Let sit in the fridge overnight.
To serve: Boil hot water. Take out 2-3 slices of saturated fruit (I usually do 1 orange and 2 lemon because of the size difference). Pour the hot water over fruit slices and let stand until cool enough to drink.
I’m sure there are different people making different variations of this all over the internet but this is my favorite flavor combination. It’s not fancy, it’s not all that special, but it’s mild and slightly sweet and I really enjoy a cup of it first thing in the morning or before bed — so I wanted to share it with you.
If you try it, let me know!
xx,
KDC.
